Add tags and search with tags

What is it?

You can tag your videos in YuJa in order to help sort and categorise them, and to mark them as long-term, re-usable teaching assets.

What does it do?

The tags in YuJa are used for two purposes, the first is the typical use of categorising a video with a tag and searching for tagged videos.

You can also add the KEEP tag to videos that are meant to be kept as re-usable teaching assets. Note that this should typically not be lecture capture; you can read the university’s policy for further information.

What should I know?

Bulk tag videos

If you have a large number of videos that you need to keep, you can bulk tag them rather than going into each individual video.

Step 1: Select all of the videos you want to be tagged by clicking your mouse and dragging it over the videos. You can then press CTRL on your keyboard and use your mouse to select additional videos.

You can tell a video has been selected when there is a blue outline around it.

Step 2: Click on the More actions drop-down menu at the top of the screen and select the menu option for Bulk Tag.

Step 3: In the pop-up window that will appear, type any tag you would like the video to have, and then select it from the drop-down list that will be generated as you type. Note that YuJa will automatically prompt you to select the tag term proceeded by the hash symbol e.g. #KEEP.

Important: If you are using this guide to add the KEEP tag to your videos in order to ensure they aren’t removed as part of the annual retention scheme, one of your tags MUST be the word KEEP exactly. An automated process will find the videos with the KEEP tag, so it will not find any other word or phrase.

Step 4: Click Save when you’re done.

Step 3: Click Save General when you are done.

Search using tags

Step 1: Log into YuJa as you usually would and go into the My Media section.

Step 2: Click on the filter icon in the search bar to see the full Advanced Search Console.

Step 3: Click on the Title drop-down menu and choose the Tag option.

Step 4: In the Equals text box, use a hashtag (#) before any keyword you want to search by and click Search.

Step 5: You’ll see all available videos to you that use that tag.
