What is it?
Zoom is intended for specific teaching and research activities that take place overseas, in particular some of our teaching in China. (We have a very limited number of licences.)
Recordings should not be stored long term on the Zoom cloud storage area. Ideally, you will have set the meeting to save the recording directly to your computer meaning you can upload it straight to Panopto (our video management platform). However, there may be cases you have inadvertently saved to the cloud and you need to download your recordings from Zoom.
What does it do?
This guide will walk you through the key steps of finding and downloading the Zoom recording you want to keep, uploading the file to Panopto, and then deleting the recording from Zoom.
What should I know?
Locate and download your recording
Step 1: Sign into Zoom.
Step 2: In the left-hand navigation, click ‘Recordings & Transcripts‘.
Step 3: Open the ‘Cloud Recordings’ tab. In the Topic column, click the title of the meeting for which you wish to download a recording.
Step 4: Beside the recording you wish to download, click the ‘Download‘ button.
Step 5: Download the recording and find it wherever your downloads are saved on your computer.
Step 6: Follow the prompts on your computer to save the files to your computer. (Depending on your recording settings, there may be more than one file to download. The video file you will upload to Panopto will have the file extension .mp4).
Step 7: Once you have confirmed that your file has been downloaded as expected you can click the ‘Delete‘ button beside the file name in Zoom.
Upload your recording to Panopto
Once you’ve got your recording(s) downloaded from Zoom, you’ll be ready to upload them into Panopto.
