Introducing: academic lead for distance and blended learning
As you may already know I’ve recently been seconded for half my time to the newly created post of Academic Lead for Distance & Blended Learning. I’ll be working closely with the Distance Learning Forum as we look at ways of further increasing the visibility of Distance Learning, enhancing what we already do, identifying new areas for development, and sharing scholarship around distance learning. As part of looking at the Student Journey I’ve been chatting to Paul McPate from ISE about inviting our DLs to join in with the Principal’s Challenge. So here it is. Please do share with your students, and do send me questions / suggestions. Susie Schofield
Principal’s Challenge 2018
Principal’s Challenge 2018, which takes place on Friday 21 September will see Dundee University Principal, Sir Pete Downes tackle a 52 mile cycle to Perth and back along the River Tay; row across the River Tay before cycling to the University’s city campus to take on a 5k fun run alongside staff and students of the University.
Principal’s Challenge 2018 is aimed at raising funds to support provision for student mental health, while at the same time highlighting the positive impact that physical activity can have on individual physical and mental health.
A key feature of this year’s event is that Prof. Downes is inviting the University community – both here in Dundee and the many University of Dundee students around the globe – to join him in undertaking their own physical challenge to raise funds for student wellbeing.
We would love for you to join the Principal’s Challenge team by undertaking doing your own personal physical activity on or around 21 September to raise funds for this very worthy cause. You can register here:

Congratulations, Susie! Hope to see you at the next DLF meeting.
