Turnitin Service has been restored

Update: 12:40, 14/08/2020

We are still investigating the Turnitin issue that is preventing all access to Turnitin in My Dundee (submission, similarity checking, marking, feedback). CTIL is systematically contacting all modules with active assignment due today and will start to do the same for module with assignments due next week.

Please note: We have no reason to believe that any assignments have been lost – only that the connection to the service is temporarily down.

Advice for module leaders

We’re advising module leaders with assignments due today/this weekend to consider extending their deadlines and/or considering alternative submission points for their students. The two recommended alternatives are to:

  1. Create a Blackboard assignment as an alternative submission point. You can find help with doing this on the Blackboard help pages. This method would allow you to offer similarity checking through Safe Assign and handle large file sizes.
  2. Ask you students to email their submissions directly to the module leader. This is simple and you will be able to manually add their submission to Turnitin once the service is back to normal.

If you are struggling with marking, you will unfortunately need to wait as there is no access to any previously submitted assignments at this time.

Advice for Students

If you are affected by this issue, please keep an eye out for updates from you module leaders as they will have the final say on what alternatives may be put in place for your particular module. You can report any other concerns to help4u.
