Enterprise Video Solutions | Product Updates – January 2020

The YuJa Team has introduced new updates and
improvements to help you do more with the YuJa Enterprise Video
Platform and additional media solutions.

 

 

New Picture-in-Picture Mode
in Compact Viewing Instances
The Video Platform has a new viewing mode that is designed for
tighter embedded viewports such as within an LMS. The
Picture-in-Picture mode can also be enabled selectively as an
additional viewing option on the Media Player menu. The
Picture-and-Picture sources can be swapped and users can also
move the embedded picture source within the window to suit their
viewing preference.

 

 

 

Full Sub-Administrator Capabilities within
Custom-Designed Hierarchies

The Video Platform now provides full capabilities to
create hierarchical representations of your organization including
Faculties, Departments, Schools, Campuses, and Schools. Within this
hierarchy, custom-defined Sub-Administrators that can be created can
create subsets of functionality and manage specific sets of Users,
Courses, and Devices. Over the coming months, we will continue to
create new Sub-Organization capabilities and help shape the future
product road-map of this capability.

 

 


Create Sub-Administrators Based on Both Role Scope
and Functional Needs

Custom sub-administrator roles can now be defined
within the Video Platform based on virtually any role scope and
functional need. Some examples of possible sub-administrator roles
you could create include a Classroom Device Manager for Medical
School, Closed Captioning Associate for the Department of Earth
Sciences, and Full Admin for the Online Campus.

 

 

Each Sub-Administrator Role Can Be Assigned a Custom
Start Page
Each sub-administrator role can now select the default
start page that is shown on login. The options listed in the
drop-down will adjust based on the functional capabilities of the
sub-admin role.

 

 

Live Streaming Infrastructure Now Scales Elastically
with No Practical Limit
As part of a larger-scale project to create elastic
scalability in all key sub-systems, the Live Streaming
infrastructure can now stream to any-size audience without the need
for in-advance provisioning. There are some related
capabilities we have planned for future releases to also
elastically scale the real-time live stream transcoding sub-system

 

 

 

New Video Platform Branding Options Enable
Customization of the Left Navigation Bar Colors
The Video Platform now includes the ability to customize
the colors of the Left Navigation Bar to align with your
institution’s brand.

 

 

Improved Video Quiz Integration with LMS Course Copy

For LMSs that support Content Item Message-based Course
Copy, namely Canvas and Blackboard, previous Video Quizzes can be
re-posted to the newly copied course as a new Video Quiz directly
within the LMS interface. This is aimed to support the use of LMS
Course Copy and the creation of Master Course Shells. 

 

 

New Video Conference Start Meeting Panel

The new Video Conference Start Panel provides quicker
access to start an impromptu meeting, schedule meetings, and view the
calendar of scheduled meetings.

 

 

New Video Player Capabilities including
Click-to-Pause, Improved Multi-stream Mobile Compatibility and More

The Media Player now offers some additional enhancements
that include the ability to click the video box to pause and resume
the video when viewing single-stream videos. For multi-stream videos,
there is a new hover effect to swap the primary stream. We also
improved multi-stream compatibility on mobile browsers and added a
new hover-glow effect for the Media Player icons.

 

 

Support for Canvas Accommodated Groups

To provide specialized video support for designated
Accommodated Groups within Canvas, the Video Platform can now
interface with the Canvas LMS to pull Accommodated Group rosters and
display specific sub-channel content designated only for the
Accommodated Group.

 

 

Additional Enhancements

This month, several smaller features and
enhancements were added to the Platform. Here are the highlights:

 

Simplification of the Video
Conference Presenter Role Removal

Simplified presenter structure by removing Limited
Presenter role and concept of view-locking.


Improved Gradebook Performance for Video Quizzes
with Large Rosters

Refactored Gradebook including receiving only
required data subsets, resolved behavior for Administrator’s
viewing rights and performance improvements.

Support for Upcoming Chrome 80 Version (“The
Cookie Crumbling Update”)
In advance of the upcoming – and much anticipated –
Chrome 80 release, which introduces several breaking changes to
most major third-party web applications, we released an update
that is compatible with this new browser version. With this
change, users will not be affected when the Chrome 80 browser,
currently in beta, releases to production.

Minor Version Update to YuJa Mobile for Android
Native Application
We released a new minor version update to our YuJa
Mobile for Android application (2.0.9) that incorporates 15+
smaller bug fixes and video streaming improvements. We are
actively working on a new iOS application which matches the
current functionality of the Android application.

 

 

 

Fixes & Minor Improvements
This month several smaller fixes and improvements were
added. Here are the highlights:

Panel – Resolved issue where the Media Player
branding style did not automatically close when the settings are
saved.

Panel – Resolved issue where Button and Speed
Options did not save in the new Media Player branding tab.

Panel – New Video Platform Branding Options
Enable Customization of the Left Navigation Bar Colors. The Video
Platform now includes the ability to customize the colors of the

capabilities to allow certain users to see Hardware Hub devices.

Panel – Resolved issue where a schedule would be
duplicated if an Administrator that was not the original
scheduler edited the original schedule.

– Resolved issue where the downloaded Storage
report differed from the value reported on the Storage tab of the
Admin Panel.

Android App  –
Resolution of all detected user application crashed identified by
provided user feedback and crash log information.

Android
App – Resolution of issue where for multi-stream
videos, the stream could lose audio focus.

API –
Added ability to update scheduled date and time for an existing
scheduled event.

Infrastructure –
Optimized specific database sub-queries.

Messaged-based Media Chooser on Moodle where the Quiz tab could
be hidden on specific screen sizes.

Library – Resolution of issue where bulk
uploading DOCX files within Firefox could behave inconsistently
on the first upload attempt.

Library – Resolved issue where a VTT caption file
was recognized as an SRT caption file until the Accessibility tab
is saved.

Media
Library – Single-clicking on a thumbnail now
plays the video instead or requiring a double-click.

Media
Player – Resolved issue where tab-order on
the Upload window was inconsistent.

Player  – Resolved issue where the video
source flickered and shifts when a caption entry went from two
lines to one-line or vice-versa.

Player – Resolved issue where unnecessary
warnings and errors were sent to browser script console when an
embedded video is replayed in Blackboard.

Player – Resolved issue where the hotkey acts
like an enter key in some cases.

Platform
– Added Play/Pause Overlay style to conveniently toggle play and
pause behavior, gradient scrubber knob and some minor UI
improvements.

Platform –
Resolution of issue where, in specific cases, the Delcom color
scheme resets after a use reboots the machine. This also requires
an updated Software Capture for PC version.

Video
Conference – Added connection stability and
quality statistics to the available Audit Log.

Video
Conference – Minor UI improvements to
Participant Panel.

Video Conference – Changed
the color of the virtual hand-raising icon to make it more
visible to the host.

Video
Conference – Added a sound notification when a
new participant arrives into the Video Conference meeting.

Video
Conference – Clarified the Share checkbox within
the setup pane to Share with Participants.

Conference – Resolved issue with Video Conference
audit log where the Since Yesterday filter did not filter
correctly.

Conference – Resolved issue where Quick Meetings
could be stuck in a Processing state indefinitely if someone
joined and left the meeting without ending it.

Editor – Resolution of race condition in
concurrent (2+) editing sessions warning.

Editor – Refactored Gradebook including
receiving only required data subsets, resolved behavior for
