Summary of My Dundee issues for April 2023

What happened?

On 20 and 25 April, there were DNS issues affecting My Dundee and associated services. Due to the nature of DNS, what people experienced varied heavily. Some users would not have experienced any issues. Other users were not able to get into embedded tools such as Turnitin, and others were not able to open or download documents from My Dundee.

When did it happen?

On 25 April, Blackboard reported that these issues began at 08:15 BST and our last confirmed case at the University of Dundee was resolved by the morning of 28 April.

Most issues were resolved by 17:00 BST on 25 April, but there were still multiple calls of issues in Help4U that carried on into the 26th or 27th until the issue was resolved.

What’s next?

Blackboard has reported that they will perform maintenance on the Blackboard.com domain on 6 May from 8am BST to 9am BST. They do not anticipate any service impact on users accessing Blackboard products during maintenance.

Based on this information, we also do not expect any issues but will be monitoring during this time.
