Fix Your Content Day – 2024
For a number of years, Anthology (Blackboard in the past) have participated in Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD) with a “Fix Your Content Day” – a global initiative to get staff to check the accessibility of their learning & teaching content, and to fix it. In Dundee we have joined for a number of years now.
GAAD is in May, and it’s apparent that the timing isn’t ideal for European/North American Higher Education. You may recall that in 2023, we hosted a University of Dundee version in February, and didn’t participate in Fix Your Content day in May. This year, Ally have now moved Fix Your Content to 3rd October, as this works much better for the community.
While we’d obviously like to have a mention in the global challenge our main concern is to help staff ensure their content is accessible (the ideal would be we wouldn’t have any content to fix – as it would be accessible from the start!)
To help you ensure your content is accessible, here are some resources:
Anthology Resources
- Overview for Instructors of Ally for Learning Management Systems
- Instructor Feedback for WYSIWYG Content
- How Instructor Feedback Works in Blackboard
UoD Resources:
- Creating inclusive teaching materials (Available outside the University)
- Recordings from 2023’s Accessibility Week (University of Dundee Staff only)
Fix your Content Live 14:00 – 16: 00 3rd October
Come along and join us – staff from Educational Development (was CTIL) and Disability Services can help you understand and rectify your Ally report.
In Person: Eduzone – which is in the main library, behind the cafe. (University of Dundee card needed for access)
Online: University of Dundee staff only – Please see this post in teams
