What is it?
After creating your Learning Modules in the course content area, you may now want to add folders within them or create separate folders in addition to your Learning Modules.
What does it do?
By creating a folder within a Learning Module, you will be able to organise your Learning Module topics into sub-topics. You can also create a standalone folder in your course content that is separate from your Learning Modules for materials that may not specifically be related to a topic in the Learning Modules, for example a course glossary or class information. It may also be a case that you have a module that does not cover a lot of ground so a folder might be sufficient to hold a smaller amount of information.
- A way to further organise module topics into sub-topics making accessing module information more user-friendly and easier to locate.
- Allows you to create a standalone folder out with the Learning Module to hold a smaller amount of information whereby a Learning Module would not be required
- Also allows a place to store information that may not be related to the topics in the Learning Modules and gives you the option to differentiate general course material from the teaching material
What should I know?
To create a standalone folder
Step 1: To create a separate folder to your learning modules, select the plus tool beneath the Course Content title (outside of the Learning Module box outline) and it will highlight purple when you hover over it.

Step 2: Select Create

Step 3: Select Folder

Step 4: To the left of the screen, a form will appear. Hover over the folder title to change its name. Save your work when done.
Note: The folder title will be pre-populated with ‘New Folder’ and then the current date.

Step 5: A standalone folder you have just created will look like this in comparison to the Learning Module on the image below. You can edit the folder name and description again by clicking on the three dots to open the menu and selecting the pencil icon as below.
